This is extremely encouraging.
On Monday, Rondo was interviewed after the Celtics held workouts for the incoming class in this year’s draft. He was asked about his future with the Celtics, since he’s a free agent at the end of this year, and he had some very encouraging things to say about his future plans:
“I don’t like change, really. I’m pretty comfortable. I have a beautiful home here, I love it. I don’t want to leave. I’m a Celtic.”
Rondo is talking like a guy who wants to be here forever. There were some rumors earlier in the year that Rondo wanted to test the free agent market, just to see what thats all like but it seems that his thought process has changed. He seems pretty determined to stay in the green and I can explain how happy that makes me. I love Rondo, always have. He perfectly embodies Boston: he’s kind of an asshole but seems like a great guy. He’s tough, gritty, and not afraid to get in a fight for his teammates. That’s who I want leading my team.
Rondo also talked about his trust in Ainge to go get another star:
“At the end of the day, I want to win. I want to win now. And I’m sure Danny [Ainge] will have the guys in here where we’ll be able to compete for a title. I don’t just want to make the playoffs, get to the first or second round. When I compete or when I make it to the playoffs, I expect to win every time.”
So you want a star do you Rondo? HOW BOUT KEVIN LOVE! Yea, this deal is happening. Everything is pointing to it and I just can’t wait to hear the first report of it coming true.
But until then, I can sleep a little happier knowing that Rondo wants to be in Boston, because Boston wants him here to.
