Keeping you posted on all rumors and names and teams and stuff like that.
Free agency has officially begun in the NBA and while the Celtics have contacted 30 players, we only know of a few by name. But here are the players we know the Celtics are rumored to have contacted. Make sure to keeping checking in as the list will update as news comes in.
UPDATE: SF EVAN TURNER (PACERS)
Well color me excited. Though this obviously isn’t fireworks, its still a nice pick up for the C’s. And could mean that Jeff Green is getting traded! Fingers crossed!
With Parsons and Hayward now off the market, it seems the C’s have found their most recent SF target. Evans would be a great pickup, basically being a younger, cheaper, better passing Jeff Green. So obviously I’m interested.
G LANCE STEPHENSON (PACERS)
I never really wanted Lance Stephenson on the Celtics, so can’t say I’m too upset to see him go. Though, he could have been brought in as part of a K. Love deal. But at this point in time, I’m thinking thats dead.
Now let me start by calming everyone down. We will not be able to sign Lance, so he will have to be a sign and trade. And even with that said, the possibility that this is Ainge seriously looking at Lance is very small. Like very small. More likely Ainge is just seeing whats out there and what it will cost to get him. Don’t expect a giant three team trade deal with the Pacers including Rondo, Lance and some other team, despite rumors.
SF CHANDLER PARSONS (ROCKETS)
Welp, say goodbye to our other SF free agent target.
Think Parsons could step in and easily be a cheaper and better Jeff Green.
SF GORDON HAYWARD (JAZZ)
Despite Woj saying the Celtics discussed a deal with Hayward, it seems our lack of cap space has come to haunt us. I would have loved to seen Hayward in the Celtics green but we just don’t have that kind of money. Looks like Gordon will be playing in Charlotte. Though actually most likely he’ll be returning to Utah since they’re prepared to match the Hornet’s offer sheet.
Hayward signing with the Celtics makes all the sense in the world. The money will be tough due to our lack of cap space but both parties want to make it happen.
PF/C KRIS HUMPHRIES (CELTICS)
Seems like Humphries will not be returning to the Celtics.
Humphries was great for us last year and if he comes in at the right price, I’d love to see him back in green. Though with actual contenders looking for his services, I doubt he comes back.
PG ISAIAH THOMAS (KINGS)
Despite the looks of it, still don’t think this means Rondo is out. Plus Pistons are reportedly favorites to land him.
PF/C JORDAN HILL (LAKERS)
Always been a big fan of Hill, think he would be a great energy guy and help our center problem.
G KENT BAZEMORE (LAKERS)
If he comes at the right price, could be a nice wing addition.
