Red Sox have finally traded away Jon Lester (and Jonny Gomes) and got a nice bat in return.

Well, the end has come.  The Red Sox have finally traded their homegrown, two time World Series winning and impending free agent Jon Lester to the Oakland A’s for outfielder Yoenis Cespedes.

It’s interesting to note that Cespedes will be a free agent in 2015 so this could just be a rental thingy.  But don’t fear Sox fans, we’ll have plenty of money to sign 28 year old outfielder if we want to keep him around.  Which we probably do.  Considering pairing him with Jackie Bradley Jr. would create one of the strongest armed outfield duos out there.

What do you think of the trade?  Let me know in the comments.
